OVERVIEW
Skincare apps tend to feel clinical. Charts, scores, dermatology-grade coldness that makes self-care feel like a medical chart. SYNÉ needed warmth. The product is about daily ritual and feeling good in your own skin, so the design had to feel like care, not diagnostics. Soft, personal, a little tender — the way a good skincare routine actually feels.

Our goal was to make AI feel gentle. The technology underneath is real analysis — hydration, UV, stress signals — but none of it should feel like surveillance. So the design leans into softness: pastel gradients, hand-drawn marks, real skin in real light. The intelligence is there. It just never feels cold.

THE CHALLENGE
Make AI feel like self-care
Beauty is emotional. Skincare is personal, sometimes vulnerable. So putting AI in the middle of it is risky — done wrong, it feels like a machine judging your face. The challenge was to keep all the intelligence while removing all the coldness. The answer was tone. Hand-drawn underlines on key words, soft pastel light, photography of real skin at rest. Technology presented as a gentle daily companion, not a clinical scanner. Warmth was the whole job.

DIRECTION
Three decisions
Soft, not clinical
Most skincare AI looks like a dermatology dashboard. SYNÉ goes pastel and tender — dusty pinks, lilac haze, gradient light. The palette removes the cold. Care should feel warm, even when it's powered by analysis.

01
Hand-drawn human marks
Key words get hand-drawn underlines, circles, little hearts. A human gesture laid over an AI product. The imperfection is deliberate — it signals a person made this, for people, not an algorithm talking at you.

02
Real skin, real light
Photography of actual faces — freckles, texture, natural glow, no retouched perfection. The product reads your real skin, so the site shows real skin. Honesty in the imagery builds trust in the analysis.

RESULT
Intelligence that feels like care
SYNÉ launched as an app and site that make AI feel tender. Warm where skincare tech is clinical, hand-touched where most products feel machined, honest in every image. The design carries the product's real promise — that understanding your skin can feel gentle, daily, human. The analysis is sharp. The feeling is soft.
